CEO Update: A truly exceptional reflection of Queen Mary’s High School

The publication today of Queen Mary’s High School’s exceptionally impressive Ofsted report is a powerful endorsement of the school as a place of the highest of standards nationally.
I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Nicola Daniel, Headteacher, and the entire staff team, as well as our students, local governors, trustees and the wider Queen Mary’s and Mercian communities. This is a shared achievement, built over time, grounded in values, and sustained through the very best collective commitment.
What stands out most powerfully in the report is the simple but profound truth that students flourish at QMHS. They thrive academically, leaving the school not only with the very best grades, but exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their lives.
This is not success by chance; it is success by design.
Inspectors rightly highlight a school shaped by high ambition and expectation, where pupils develop deep knowledge, confidence in their thinking, and the ability to articulate their learning with clarity.
Alongside this, the personal development offer is described as highly impressive, a rich programme of opportunities that broadens horizons, raises aspirations and ensures every young person can participate fully in school life.

Ofsted have recognised how leaders remove barriers and ensure equitable opportunities for all, including disadvantaged pupils, who achieve at levels far beyond expectations nationally.
At the heart of all this is a deeply inclusive ethos that is fostered by leaders and cherished by all. It is striking how pupil leadership is embedded across the school, giving young people a genuine sense of responsibility and agency in shaping their community.
Inspectors describe a school where relationships are warm and respectful, behaviour is superb, and the environment is calm and purposeful – a place where every young person can flourish.
This culture is not incidental. It flows directly from leadership and is both developed and protected by all those who are part of the school community.
The report recognises leaders who are values-driven, deeply committed to their community, and relentless in their focus on removing barriers and transforming lives. It also highlights the strength of professional development and the positive culture experienced by staff, which underpins sustained excellence in teaching and learning. For our Trust, this matters greatly.
Queen Mary’s High School exemplifies what education should be:
- a place of exceptional academic achievement,
- deep belonging and identity,
- and genuine opportunity for every young person to thrive.
This report does not mark an end point. It is a powerful affirmation of what has been built, and a platform on which to continue to build the vivid vision for the school’s future and ongoing success.

To our staff – thank you for your expertise, care and commitment.
To our students – thank you for the way you embody the spirit of the school in how you encourage and support each other every day.
And to the wider community – thank you for your partnership, trust, and continued support for the school.
Together, you have all created something truly special.
